ABOUT WRETCHRO:

Early in the 80s, a musical phenomenon began.  Bands appeared sporting narrow ties, bizarre haircuts, and playing an alternative sound.  Some of these bands used standard rock instruments with a twist to make their mark.  Other pioneers performed with nothing more than a bank of synthesizers and beat boxes.

The media labeled the phenomenon new wave, punk, modern, alternative, and (much later) grunge.  A handful of monster groups sprang from this primordial musical ooze:  U2, The Cars, The Police, Nirvana.  But just as interesting are the bands that flew up the charts and then fell back in, or simply ruled the underground and clubs.

E. Michaels (bass, keys) made his living in a top alternative cover/original band, during its heyday in the 80s and 90s (Men About Town in the Rocky Mountain region).  Now living in Bend, Oregon, he formed WRETCHRO to help ensure that retro music continues to thrive live.

Tapping the captivating vocal range of Orbb Stewart, the dazzling guitar work of Jon Stimac, and the rock solid groove of drummer Philter, Michaels has formed a killer retro combo.

WRETCHRO draws its tunes from the 80s and 90s, as well as current bands that owe their roots to retro.   WRETCHRO is as happy jamming on Stone Temple Pilots as popping on Simple Minds. Actively writing their first album, they also borrow originals from Michaels’ previous four albums.  The band carries a state-of-the-art sound and light system to ensure the audience hears, sees and feels what they pay for.

The recent 80’s revival means WRETCHRO is hitting the mark with a whole new generation that’s hearing it for the first time.
